Hawaii Trip in '02

In the spring of 2002, the Wind Ensemble went to the Pacific Basin Music Festival, in Honolulu, HI.  Here are some of the many pics I took.  I couldn't fit all the ones I wanted to onto this page...

In the band room before leaving for the airport, Jon thinks I'm waay too awake

Brent Taylor, fresh off the plane

Jon, heading to pick up his luggage

Scott/Blair, Jeff, and Abe, in the baggage claim area

Less than a block and a half from the hotel, you find this beach

This waterfall was INSIDE a hotel/shopping center

At the welcome banquet/dance, a napkin war between Abe and Laura breaks out

Abe, chatting it up

The Madrigals performing on stage, as seen from Ala Moana's third level

From the hotel's third floor, I could see Abe and Blair's room on the fourth

Andy at the entrance to Pearl Harbor

The Arizona's gun turret, one of the only parts still above water

It was very moving in the memorial shrine

Even after more than 50 years, the ship is still leaking oil. I think someone called it "Sailors' Tears"

Andy Kim in the warm-up room before the performance

Abe, staring at something...

A view of the shore from the day-cruise boat

Diamond Head, and part of the Honolulu coastline, from the day-cruise boat

Apparently, ocean fish love hot dog buns

If Jon's gonna growl at me, he's gonna get a camera flash in his face

The Madrigals performance

Just what does happen when you tick Marianne off enough?

She introduces you to her oboe case

Our bus never showed up, so we got the Party Bus instead!

A student from Japan tries to play our Contrabass Clarinet

Diamond Head as seen from our hotel's penthouse floor

All the groups gathering for a massive photo

These guys couldn't have been more than 6, and they were awesome dancers

This dude put on one awesome show

Andy's opinion of the whole trip, I guess...
